What is LID?
LID is a planning and engineering design approach to minimize the impact on the land on which any development, including residential properties, is constructed. LID considers minimizing the compaction of the soil by heavy equipment, natural trees and grasses, decreasing the amount of runoff or rainwater to reduce ice buildup during the winter, and irrigation water needed during the summer.
